Elbow to Solar Plexus Practice by Coach David Alexander

Power.  This is one of my Street Fight Bootcamp lessons but will work great for MMA.  Elbow to the solar plexus.  Practice driving your elbow into BOB’s solar plexus.  If you go deep enough you will effect the liver and gall bladder.  This will take your opponents breath and might cause vomiting or will set up a take down or another strike.  By Your Virtual MMA Coach David Alexander.  I also posted this on my 1LessonSelfDefense.com site.

Hammer Fist Power Training with BOB by Coach David Alexander

The Hammer Fist is an under utilized strike in MMA.  Here is how to develop power for your hammer fist from on of my other sites StreetFightBootcamp.com.  Use the BOB or a heavy bag to practice generating power for your hammer fist.  The hammer fist can be used for a quick strike to the bridge of the nose of your attacker.  Make sure to drop your weight and keep your elbow in tight to effectively add your body weight into the strike.  If an attacker is on the ground you could hammer fist his mandible, or vagus nerve.  Want to learn more?  I will be working on a DVD soon or visit http://www.StreetFightBootcamp.com and schedule a private or group lesson.  I can come to you or you can come to me.  Coach David Alexander (Self Defense Expert).

Footwork. Perform a switch step to set up a 45 degree angle on your opponent. From there you can strike (target the mastoid process) with a cross or a low leg kick (popliteal nerve or the gastrocnemius) or a cross with a low leg kick. O.C. or Original Combo. If I’m in someones corner and I yell “O.C.” then my fighter would perform a 1, 2 or Jab, Straight Right combo. This is what I call a V-Block.  It is a defense against uppercuts, especially when trapped against a cage or ropes.  Then there’s the Dracula Block to cover your mandible/chin and set up for a straight right or power right.  Finally a Rhino Block will protect your head when you move into an opponents chest to cover, get a takedown or just to get in close without getting hurt.  Coach David Alexander
